Elizabeth G was converted from a small ship that was designed for a
very different purpose. But whereas most of theses are conversions
from fishing vessels, Elizabeth G was designed and built for Search
and Rescue operations by the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue (NSSR). So
she’s tough and very seaworthy. Following a
major refit and conversion in 2005, Elizabeth G now provides superb
accommodation for up to 12 guests. With Stabilizers fitted she makes
an ideal platform for whale spotting. Elizabeth G is the ideal small ship to take you
on your Scottish island cruises. Guest accommodation is
available for charters of the vessel comprising
of six twin cabins which are all
centrally heated with storage facilities, a
seat and hand basin. The cabins all have
non-opening portholes and the vessel is carpeted throughout. There
are two showers and three toilets.
Cabins are warm, airy and comfortable; the food is superb;
Dive Expeditions to
St. Kilda & the Outer Hebrides
We specialise in Diving
expeditions to the volcanic archipelago of
St. Kilda. With its' plunging cliffs,
towering sea stacs and rocky shores which
have been battered by centuries of wind and
massive seas, it forms some of the UK's most
stunning underwater landscapes of caves,
arches and passageways. The clear unpolluted
oceanic water supports a spectacularly
diverse and stunning range of animals and
plants.
if
you want to dive some of the best wrecks and see the most stunning
scenery on the west coast of Scotland in and out the water, Diving
from one of the most comfortable and capable charter vessels in the
UK.
Elizabeth G
is owned and skippered by Rob Barlow who is a qualified commercial
diver. Rob has dived the waters of the Scottish Hebrides for many
years and specialises in taking dive parties out to St Kilda, which
holds World Heritage Status for its marine life and stunning
underwater rock formations.
Why is
Elizabeth G so different? Well, as with most charter vessels, she
was converted from a small ship that was designed for a very
different purpose. But whereas most of theses are conversions from
fishing vessels, Elizabeth G was designed and built for Search and
Rescue operations by the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue (NSSR). So
she’s tough and very seaworthy.
Following a
major refit and conversion in 2005, Elizabeth G now provides superb
accommodation for up to 12 guests. With Stabilizers fitted she makes
an ideal platform for Diving charters. Elizabeth G is the ideal small ship to take you
on your Scottish island dives. Guest accommodation comprises
of six twin cabins which are all
centrally heated with storage facilities, a
seat and hand basin. The cabins all have
non-opening portholes and the vessel is carpeted throughout. There
are two showers and three toilets.
Cabins are warm, airy and comfortable; the food is superb; there’s
ample deck space and entry / retrieval from the water is easy.
Join us on one of
our cruises and see the diverse wildlife and stunning beauty of
the Hebrides. All our cruises will take you to a range of
stunning islands and destinations. Whether you come to see the
incredible variety of wildlife the Scottish Hebrides has to
offer, with soaring white tailed eagles, the fantastic golden
eagles, clown puffins, graceful manx shearwaters, elusive otters and many more
species or whether it's to take in the fantastic scenery and
seascapes, we are sure you will find it an unforgettable experience.
This year we are offering two
different main destination cruises for you. Our Outer Isles and St.Kilda Cruise is your chance to visit the incredible 'Islands on
the Edge of the World'. Approximately 45 miles West of the Hebrides,
St.Kilda was once home to a British Colony a most isolated
community. Today St.Kilda is a haven for 210 different species of
birds and a total of over 1 million seabirds have been recorded
there, not to mention the cetaceans to be seen around its shores. We
will give you ample time to get ashore on Hirta to explore it's
unique history and walk along the 'Main Street' of village bay. A
full day will be spent cruising the Islands of St.KIlda -
Hirta,Dun,Soay, and Boreray and of course the Sea Stacks such as Stac An Armin and Stac Lee. We know these waters very well and
promise to get you up close to the cliffs and birds.
Looking
up from the deck of the Elizabeth G as we lie under the 'Casting Off
Stone'of Stac Lee with literally thousands of gannets swirling and
diving above you is an incredible experience. The history, it's
remoteness and incredible wildlife make the islands of St.Kilda an
exceptionally desirable destination. We would like you to note
though that St.Kilda is never a guaranteed destination.
Our Skye and Shiant Islands Cruise is
a more leisurely paced but none the less exciting cruise to the
enchanting Shiant Islands. Situated in the Northern Minch 4 miles
off the east coast of Lewis. Many people call the Shiant Islands a
mini St. Kilda and it certainly compares favourably with St.Kilda for
it's wildlife and geographics.
The Shiant Islands have been designated a
Special Protection Area for the conservation of
birds. There are 18 thousand guillemots,
8-11 thousand razorbills, 4-6 thousand fulmars and 240 thousand
puffins. The Shiant Islands also have much archaeology on the 3
islands that make up the Shiants - House Island, Rough Island and
Mary island. There will ample time to get ashore
and explore all three of these fascinating islands.
The natural
'Horse Shoe' harbour of the Shiant Islands make it an ideal
overnight anchorage and a perfect place to sit on the top deck of
the Elizabeth G as the sun sets to the west and take in it's unique
atmosphere. For more information on the Shiant Islands please visit
